In the middle of the 18-hole golf course of the Blue Bay Golf & Beach
Resort, with it’s terrific blue ocean view, lays the sand-based synthetic
field hockey pitch of Curaçao, home of the annual “Curaçao International
Hockey Trophy”. The tournament can be characterized as a “Serious Fun Event”,
and focuses on (club) teams from Europe, USA, Canada and the Caribbean
region. The ‘serious’ aspect of the tournament indicates that a trip to the
Caribbean does not mean that there are no hard hockey-battles to be fought:
measurements of strength on different levels. Matches will be played in
men’s, women’s and mixed divisions in pools of 5 or 6 teams. Every team will
play one or two pool matches during the first three days of the tournament.
The fourth day will be all finals. Due to the Caribbean temperatures, the
match duration has been brought back to 2x25 minutes. During the tournament days (between the matches) there will be plenty of
time for ‘fun’, like scuba diving, playing golf or just some R&R on the
beach. And of course we will direct you to several Happy Hour hotspots around
the island to enjoy the sunset and a Caribbean cocktail. Everyday sun, 86F, a cool tropical wind, clean seawater, Amstel Beer
distilled out of saltwater, merengue, salsa, and getting a tan by just being
here. What else could you wish for? Exactly ……. a longer stay. |
